Weapons
Weapons are a subclass of the artifact class (in the anthropological sense of "made objects" not in the D&D sense of "superpowerful things"). They are usually made up of components (pommel and blade, bow and string, haft and shodding, etc). These components are combined to make a single object which has various attributes.
This page is basically an idea document for those who have suggestions for what these derived attributes should be.
- Requirements for use
- necessary proficiencies or proficiency levels
- necessary traits
- Abilities which are facilitated by using the weapon
- Combat styles associated with the weapon (may be another way to say proficiencies or abilities)
- Handle-ability (may be associated with some others such as speed or combat styles
- Speed with which weapon can be used
- may be a speed associated with the weapon, which might then be modified by proficiencies and traits
- may be a function of proficiencies and traits, which might be modified by the weapon (in which case, the weapon may need a trait which determines the modification)
- Damage
- types of damage?:
- amount of blunt damage done
- amount of piercing damage done
- amount of cutting damage done
- whether any of these are affected by attributes or skills
- whether any elemental damage is done as well
- whether any non-body damage is done (to mind or soul)
- whether attribute damage can be done ???
- whether critical hits can cause damage to a primary statistic
- Parrying
- parries blunt damage
- parries piercing damage
- parries cutting damage
- Absorbs damage (is this different from parrying? Is it different than how other objects absorb damage?) (AlexisLi?: 2 stats here: chance to hit and damage absorption)
- Ranges for Ranged, Melee and Close combat
- Class
- Swords
- Hafted weapons (maces, axes, hammers, mattocks and picks)
- Staves
- Thrown weapons
- Polearms
