Spring

The seasons of the Periodic Table

Filled with newly minted idealism and youthful vigor, change is the order of the day in Developmental Objects? during spring phases of The Pattern. Some changes may be made strictly for the sake of change.

Manifestions of Spring: characters, covenants, skills and traits

Spring characters are impulsive and headstrong. Spring souls are often obnoxious. Spring bodies tend to be exuberant. And spring minds are often show offs.

Younger members of the spring covenant sometimes refuse to listen to older, wiser heads even when they would benefit by so doing. The oaths of the Creed in springtime are in constant flux just as the liturgies of the Chapel in springtime or the governance of the Rectory in springtime are in constant change.

Spring skills can be wasteful of raw material, yet brilliant in their successes. Spring traits are risky, but surprising in their successes.

Eco-Relations

There are two Eco-Relations which are associated with Spring:

Seasons of the Periods

There are four springs in the final two periods (the Institutional Balance and the Interindividual Balance) of the periodic table:

  • The first is a very public declaration of the changes which have been adopted, to the point of offending those who have not yet adopted them (even though the goal is convincing them)
  • The second and third springs are very internal and non-public
    • The second is internally grating
    • The third is internally more political
  • The fourth spring is public like the first, but less likely to offend others (and thus probably more successful in convincing them)

There are two springs in the middle two periods (the Imperial Balance and the Interpersonal Balance) of the periodic table:

  • The first is a very public declaration of the changes which have been adopted, to the point of offending those who have not yet adopted them (even though the goal is convincing them)
  • The second spring is public like the first, but less likely to offend others (and thus probably more successful in convincing them)

There is one spring in the early two periods (the Incorporative Balance and the Impulsive Balance) of the periodic table:

  • A very public declaration of the changes which have been adopted

The only element in the Prenatal Balance is both a spring and an autumn element because the -1 period does not have a clear meaning for season.
