Prenatal Balance
The Prenatal Balance is a stage in The Pattern, the developmental algorithm that describes change in most of the FaerieMUD world.
Period -1
Developmental Objects? which have not yet differentiated themselves from their source in the Prenatal Balance. They do not yet have needs or a separate identity.
Thus, skills at this level are not yet understood as anything, even as things which others might be able to do. A skill at the prenatal level means your culture does not even understand what the skill means (as rocket science to a caveman). Seasons are irrelevant at this point, making spring and fall indistinguishable.

Subject-Object relations
There are no subjects nor objects in the Prenatal Balance. <br>
Examples
- A human's development while still in the womb is an example of the Prenatal Balance (whence the name).
- A religion which is still just a principle in its founding prophet's mind. It is still without a life of its own, or at least a self of its own.
- A skill that hasn't been practiced or even attempted is in the pre-natal balance. For instance a person who comes from a culture in which there is no singing would have a pre-natal singing skill. A person from a culture that has singing will have singing in the Incorporative balance.
- a skill at the Prenatal Balance means a crafter's culture does not even know the skill exists.
- the Prenatal matter should not be used as the primary material for any project although it may be incorporated into something made with a higher matter:
- all !FaerieMUD languages which have passed the Prenatal Balance (also all in the non-fae world)
