Players and Characters

In FærieMUD terms, a player (a human at a terminal, in the case of player characters, or an external computer in the case of non-player characters) is represented by a Spirit. The Spirit can possess (control) AnimatedObjects, but will be most likely be found possessing a Character. Spirits have affinities for certain animated objects, such as a character it was born in, or a Covenant which was brought into being by an Oath sworn by it. Affinities greatly increase the ease of possession. Spirits (especially those of Immortals) with a high Incarnativity can sometimes possess animated objects for which they do not have an affinity.
