The Periodic Seasons
Periodic Seasons are phases in each Period of the Pattern which indicate the patterned object's relationship to change.
Objects in the Summer season of their Period are in a state of almost constant change because they are very open to new things, while Winter season objects are conservative almost to the point of being inert.

Objects in Spring and Autumn are in a state of change of their relationship to the new. Both find themselves balanced between the unreasonable acceptance of change found in the summer and the stodgy conservatism of winter. The difference is that change is on the ascendancy for objects in the Spring season of their Period, while for Fall season objects conservatism is growing.
