Magnesium

Magnesium is the second developmental level where the skill or trait can be a subject which has an object. The entity which has the developmental object at this level does not distinguish the property from perceptions of it. It can be thought of as a play version of the skill and those who use it at this are said to be playing at the skill. Things which they make in this period are known as toys.

Both simple proficiencies and talents can be tasks at the magnesium level. They cannot yet be combined with other tasks. They can have state and can (in the case of talents) modify such state.

At the magnesium level of development, the perceptions are actually enhanced by the imitation nature of this play, but needs are still hurt because they are not being met. The entity is so ecstatic with their activity they are not only willing to make such a sacrifice they will actually encourage others to "come play with me."
