Magic

Magic is the system by which one may acquire Mana from one or more Loci and focus it with one or more Foci to achieve some desired effect. Philosophical and mechanical differences in the techniques employed to manipulate Mana and the objects which serve as Foci are called Genres, which in turn are governed by the Metamagic system.

There are (at least) two distinct branches of magical philosophy in the FaerieMUD world: maturgical or worldly magic, and theurgical or divine magic. They principally concern themselves with methods of conserving Mana in whatever Loci are prevalent in their Genre.
