The Lanthanide Series of the Rare Earths

Once the institutional balance develops beyond evangelical predation (which, of course, happens much further along in the development of the self than the first Group VIIIB elements), a contradiction arises: The persona has developed beyond the level at which its component animas (or goals or whatever internal entities have been hypothesized) have been operating at for most of the previous two periods. To resolve this contradiction, the institutional self (persona) must now fully develop its conception of the constituent selves (the anima).

The anima then goes through a series of developments which are externally translucent and produce the first series of Rare Earths (the Lanthanide series). This series has all the usual characteristics of stages through which a balance goes, noting that it starts with Group III because the anima has already gone through sacrificial satisfaction and evangelical predation in Cobalt and Nickel.

The Long Wait

This makes room for the Long Wait, a long period where that internal development remains static with evangelical predation.
