Ivy
The third sacred "tree" is the ivy, with the leaves being used for magical purposes. It is an evergreen vine with five-pointed leaves and small yellow flowers. Ivy's berries are black and its leaves a dark green. Although it is best known for its ability to climb vertical surfaces (like trees or walls), ivy can also creep along the ground or even take a shrub form.
The vine is often used as an ornamental creeper.
Ivy is the "tree" of the mind.
Hedera helix
Ivy is associated with the letter Gort of the Ogham alphabet. Ivy corresponds to Group IIIB? on the Periodic Table (the third column). This means that it relates to Commensal Laudation, the eco-relation (+,0), and the vocabulary of the previous balance. Ivy is also associated with scandium and a developmental number of 21.
The magic associated with ivy is usually related to mind skills and language:
- lending languages
- bestowing skills
- magical toasts
- oaths and geaslaying
These magicks are built around the use of the tongue for mealtime satisfaction.
