Imperial Balance
Period 2
Developmental Objects? first differentiate themselves from their close relations in the Imperial Balance. They are learning what it is to have related skills or relative identity.
Thus, skills at this level are capable of having subskills understood as wishes. Two sets of seasons should bring them to the point where their wishes can come into conflict requiring them to become an external object, a purpose that one has rather than an wish one is. A minor crisis occurs between the two sets of seasons, known as the temper tantrum during which the beginnings of an internal existence can arise.

Subject-Object relations
The subjects of the Imperial Balance are wishes. The objects are perceptions. <br>
Examples
- A culture during its Iron Age is an example of the Imperial Balance.
- A child with Kohlberg's "instrumental orientation" is in the Imperial Balance of moral development. (This is the period where they define right and wrong by what is fair.)
- A political entity with an autarch (such as a kingdom) has its Order component in the Imperial Balance.
- A guild which needs a more permanent leadership in the form of a guildmaster is an example of a covenant which has a Governance in the Imperial Balance.
- Bigots are examples of people who have reached adulthood without leaving the Imperial Balance emotionally. I have recently begun to suspect that some transexuals may also be in this category. (This may explain why so many are dissatisfied after sex-change operations.)
- a Imperial-level skill (the genius path is initiated during this balance)
- a skill at the Imperial Balance enables a crafter to make artifacts capable of being used.
- the Imperial matter an apprentice should use to best achieve an artifact capable of being used:
