Gene Structure
One of the primary ideas which we had in the begining was that our world should have an ecosystem?, so that if a person killed wolves in a forest it would effect the entire forest. It was a simple idea to make things more realistic. However we found that other forms of biology are actually very simple to program into the world if we fudged the edges a little.
Gene Structure is one of those things that has the possiblity of making things very realistic, if we do that said fudging. See we don't need to program in real genetics, theres no need to have useless code telling each cell how to produce what protein, ect. All that is really nessasary is a set of genotypes and phenotypes of a certain organism. Then we can actually breed things as real sexual reproduction works, having each sperm and egg cell carry half the necessary chromosomes to create a full set. Except these chromosomes will represent Attributes which are only relevent to the game, there will probably be no need for the chromosome which governs the amino acids produce in the lower intestines, but it will have chromosomes representing what diet the creature gets nutrients from.
By definition this will be a Genetic Algorithm? but its purpose will not be to create new species or see what life spawns, this is because we plan to have the chance of mutation low and general life cycle of life short enough that horses will probaly not develope a diet of meat, or wings, magic will accomplish those feats.
