Elfin Family of Languages

The Elfin family of languages includes:

  • Ogham -- used by faeries, nixies and brownies.
    • developmental level -- 39
    • the trade tongue of the fae
    • the connection between magic and language is derived through Ogham (and, indirectly, the connection between magic and the periodic table)
  • Cave Elvish -- used by cave elves (sometimes known as "pig dwarvish" although it has strong ties to the elfin family and very little connection to dwarvish)
    • developmental level -- 59
    • which means it has almost as many phonemes as Human Tongue?, but lacks much of the nuance possible in English with inflection
  • High Sylvan -- used by the High Sidhe?
    • developmental level -- 82
    • which puts it a little more sophisticated (particularly in the subtle phonemes) than human (which is modeled on English)
