Ash
The eleventh sacred tree is the ash with broomstick-length rods used for magickal purposes. Ash grows in upland groves with thin bark. Its flowers have no petals, but bear one seed with a wing.
Ash is the tree of control over water.
Fraxinus
Ash is associated with the letter Nion of the Ogham alphabet. Ash corresponds to Group IB? on the Periodic Table (the eleventh column). This means that it relates to Sacrificial Satisfaction, the eco-relation (0,-), and the vocabulary of the previous balance. Ash is also associated with gold? and a developmental number of 79.
The magicks associated with ash control water or air:
- flight
- lighten burden
- swim
- levitation
These magicks are based on the lightness and satisfaction of freedom and flying which can take one in the opposite direction from that which water flows.
